Virtual Tuning Mania

15 August, 2009

One of the many trends that came along with the Fast & Furious movies and the Need For Speed Underground series of games is the “art” of tuning and modifying your car to look as stupid and ridiculous as possible!!!

By that I mean the addition of ‘shark fin’ like spoilers, ‘dragon’ like body-kits full of air vents and grille and the necessary addition of hundreds of stickers of performance (therefore expensive) part brands that your car will never have. A must ‘mod’ is the neon lights under the car! Look dad, my little Seat has been captured by UFOs! Look how it glows!

So it’s bloody typical: you can have a Honda Civic that values up to 3,000€ at the most and still have another 6,000€ worth of tuner stupidity mounted on it!! The car looks like it can rocket up to 60mph in less than 3 seconds whereas reality brings that figure up to something more than 8 seconds. And you tweak it, tune it, buy this spark plug and that exhaust pipe, tweak it some more and tune it some more till one day the poor bastard falls apart.

Blazkowicz is back!

15 August, 2009

assets/thegame/elite_guard_lrg.pngGreat news today! I found out that Raven Software along with the legendary id guys are about to launch Wolfenstein, the 5th major title (excluding all expansions and special editions) in the epic series for the pc!

The aspect that appealed to me most in Return to Castle Wolfenstein was the wicked -almost– unreal story-line and it’s atmosphere. Don’t forget that RTCW was released way back in 2001 and being powered by id software’s Quake III arena engine worked miracles for it, at least that’s what we were saying back then.

Epic video game! One of my most favorite 1st person shooters of all time! Mixing a tremendous atmosphere with an eerie story-line that involves Nazi warfare, the occult and bioengineered monsters, it captivated my interest for a long time! Oh and how could I forget the elite -full leather clad– commando babes ?

Vacations Time Again!

15 August, 2009

Yeah chaps! ‘Tis this holy time of year where I shut down the pc @ work and get some serious relaxation time!

No plans for a trip this summer, cause my finances are kinda low, plus I’m saving for a new power-pc setup around Christmas time, so time will be spent mostly home: drawing, sleeping and of course video gaming!

Have a good one and I’ll see you again in a couple of weeks!

btw I wish I had a Mustang and a hottie like this one, but even drawing them can do I suppose… or it can’t??

Did you know that?

29 November, 2008

Yeap it’s officialy quiz night here at Vagpod. No, wait! don’t get your drinks yet! Actually yesterday evening I was reading a book about graphic design and I came across some interesting historical facts which I’ll share with you. Now go and get the booze

:

  • The term Graphic Design was introduced in the USA by Dwight Wiggins in 1927.
  • The famous London Tube map, (more or less) as we see it today, was designed by Frank Beck around 1908.
  • Guttenburg created the first printing press by adapting a wine press in 1440-1450.
  • The typewriter was invented in 1865. Read the rest of this entry »

New Car-Toons

24 October, 2008

Hell yeah! My Car-tooning mania still goes on and strong!

My latest work is the 2007 Mini Cooper S. I’ve done this on my holidays last August, as I was drinking coffee on a beach cafe and a gorgeous red mini was parked near by. I decided to sketch it on a napkin. Later on it was all Photoshop long hours of work.

Much earlier than the mini, I’ve sketched a Nissan 350Z which was an on/off job for me due to heavy workload. But I’ve got it done finally, and this is the final product. The original sketch was done in May ’08 but the actual illustration took me over 4-5 months to complete.

I hope you like them both πŸ™‚

On the works now is a 1976 Toyota Celica ST, which is actually a commission for a friend that owns one and regularly races it on historic rally races. Stay tuned πŸ™‚

The return of the Scirocco?? NOT!

24 October, 2008

Okay just to set things right:

This is a true SCIROCCO! (the mkII model of the series)

and this is NOT a Scirocco:

Unfortunately Volkswagen has named their new hatch as Scirocco 😦 But does it have any relation to the one and only and true Scirocco? I guess not! Read the rest of this entry »
